Eastgate Clock
The Eastgate Clock is a turret clock built in 1899 above the East gate of the ancient walls of Chester. It was built to celebrate the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria two years earlier.

A walk down by the river.

The River Dee stretches 70 miles and sits in both England and Wales, running through the heart of Chester there is a paved promenade to walk along, sit out, or have an ice cream on. Down by the river is one of our favourite places to eat, Hickorys Smokehouse, American soul food done right. Not after anything too heavy? Head to Snugbury's by the River, grab a snack or one of their incredible ice creams made on their farm just outside Nantwich.

Hoole

Hoole is a suburb on the outskirts of Chester and boasts a shopping district that has won a number of awards, it has a strong independent high-street with very few national chains. From florests to butchers and fine dining to quick bites, it's a great place to wonder around and take in Chesters oldest suburb.

Grosvenor Park

Covering 20 acres and dating back to 1867, Grosvenor park is a Grade II registered park and is the largest in Chester. Situated just outside the city walls and overlooking the River Dee, it's the perfect place to walk around, lounge in, or take in the open air theatre in the summer. It's open year round.

Shropshire Canal

The Shropshire canal flows right through the heart of Chester. It's a great walk whichever way you decide to head, there's plenty of pit stops along the way from Telford's Warehouse to The Old Harkers Arms, grab a bite to eat or sit back with a drink and watch the world go by.

Bickerton Hill

Endless views of the rolling Cheshire plains, this well known walk in Cheshire never disappoints. The 34-mile sandstone trail stretches through the Cheshire countryside, and on a clear day you can see Liverpool in the distance. Don't forget to stop off for a drink (or food) at The Pheasant Inn.

Moel Famau

Moel Famau means 'Mother Mountain' in Welsh, sitting at 1818ft it is the highest summit in the Clwydian Range. Sitting proudly in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty it forms part of the famous Offas Dyke Path National Trail. It takes about an hour to hike up from the lower car park.

West Kirby Beach

Tucked away at the top of the Wirral is West Kirby beach, this sandy beach offers a vast area and you can even walk to Hilbre Island when the tide is out (be sure to check tide times!). After a long walk on the beach head over to Hickory Smokehouse just around the corner for some American soul food.

Delamere Forest

Swing from the trees at Go Ape Adventure Trail. Walk or Cycle around the many forest trails and lake. Grab an ice cream at the new visitor centre. Even better, you don't have to drive, Delamere Forest has its own train station so hop on at Chester and come direct to Delamere. It's a great day out and there's sure to be something for everyone in your group.
